The spiritual atmosphere of the month of Ramadan at Karabük University was shared through iftar programs organized for two important countries of the Turkic world, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The events, organized with the contributions of the Karabük University Cengiz Aytmatov Center for Turkic World Studies, brought together students from the Turkic world, members of the academic community, and diplomatic representatives at the same table.
As part of the Ramadan activities on campus, the programs held at the Karabük University Social Life Center emphasized the historical, cultural, and fraternal ties between Türkiye and Kazakhstan as well as Uzbekistan. The events were attended by university administrators, academics, international students, embassy representatives, and invited guests.
Kazakhstan Iftar
During the Kazakhstan iftar program held at Karabük University, attention was drawn to the deep-rooted friendship and cultural ties between Türkiye and Kazakhstan. The program was attended by Karabük University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Elif Çepni and Prof. Dr. İsmail Rakıp Karaş, Director of the Cengiz Aytmatov Center for Turkic World Studies Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek Boltabayev, and International Student Coordinator Dr. Hasan Terzi, as well as Koblandy Alzhabayev, representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Abdurashit Karabayev, representative of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan.
Following the iftar, a musical performance prepared by Kazakh students studying at Karabük University was presented. The program, which attracted great interest from the participants, concluded in a warm atmosphere reflecting the spirit of unity and solidarity characteristic of the month of Ramadan.
Uzbekistan Iftar
Another program organized within the scope of Ramadan events was the Uzbekistan iftar. The program, hosted by Karabük University, emphasized that the historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan continue to strengthen through cooperation in education, science, and economy.
In his speech, Karabük University Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Kırışık stated that Uzbek students studying at Karabük University are important representatives of the friendship and brotherhood between the two countries, noting that approximately 350 Uzbek students are currently studying at the university.
Rector Kırışık emphasized that the historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and Uzbekistan are strong, adding that Uzbek students do not feel like foreigners at Karabük University but rather see themselves as part of the same nation.
The program was also attended by Odil Gaffarov, Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Ankara; Consul Jahongir Mirzaev; Jorabek Rahmanov, Mufti of Fergana; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saidbek Boltabayev, Director of the Cengiz Aytmatov Center for Turkic World Studies.
