Cengiz Aytmatov Center for Turkic World Studies and Research (ATAM)

Established within Karabük University, the Cengiz Aytmatov Center for Turkic World Studies and Research (ATAM) operates with the aim of conducting academic studies on the Turkic world and promoting the exchange of knowledge and culture. The Center seeks to enhance and disseminate the body of knowledge concerning the history, culture, language, and literature of the Turkic world through scholarly research and activities.

Our Mission

The primary mission of the Center is to organize national and international meetings, conduct research, and share the findings with broader audiences on issues related to the Turkic world. In this context, the Center carries out various projects and events to preserve and promote the cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic world.

Our Activities

  • Conferences and Seminars: Organizing national and international conferences, panels, and symposia to facilitate the exchange of knowledge among academics and experts.

  • Publications: Producing books, journals, brochures, and audio-visual materials related to the Turkic world to enhance accessibility to information.

  • Collaborations: Developing joint projects in cooperation with institutions, centers, and organizations in Turkey and abroad.

  • Research and Study Trips: Organizing short-term research and study visits to key centers significant to Turkic history and culture.

  • Documentation Center: Establishing a documentation center composed of various publications and documents related to the Turkic world.

Administration and Organization

The Center is administered by experienced scholars and administrative staff. Its organizational structure consists of the Director, the Executive Board, and the Advisory Board. These bodies ensure the effective coordination, continuity, and development of the Center’s activities.

Our vision is to research, preserve, and transmit the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Turkic world to future generations and to contribute to the promotion of this heritage on national and international platforms.
